Question LT1 to LS1/LS6

Is the LS6 just an LS1 with a factory cam and head package? Or is there actually a difference in the engine?

The reason I am asking is because this one character I know swapped an LS6 into his Lt1 95' camaro. I just wanted to prove that it was a stupid swap because an LT1 or LS1 could produce the same power if not more for less money. All the LS6s I saw for sale were extremely expensive, I think they have an exclusivity deal because they belong to the corvette.

Just wanna know what you guys think of such a swap.

LS6 is a similar block but not exactly the same, the power differences come from the cam and heads though.

this is why 01-02 ls1 trim camaro and firebirds have a slight chance of being ls6 BLOCK but still ls1 heads and cam.

This is for '01. In '02, the LS6 cam specs changed. That and better cats added ~20hp

Re: LT1 to LS1/LS6

a factory LS6 costs no more than a factory LS1 (assuming each comes with all accessories, pcm, exhaust manifolds, coil packs, intake, etc.) They're both around $7000 ready to go. Probably cheaper to go the bore/stroke way.

Factory replacement engines are around $5000, but you'd need the intake, throttle body, coils, exhaust, pcm, belt system, and accessories.
