Lightbulb LS6 intake.....is it worth the time and effort?

Just trying to figure out what mod i want to do next and i was thinking about an LS6 intake. However I was curious about whether or not it is really worth the time and effort that goes into installing such a piece. Any input is appreciated.

all of your other mods are in your sig? i'd say go with longtubes(or some other form of headers), a cutout, torque arm, LCA's, stall converter, and tires first, then go for the ls6.

Short answer? Yes. However, I agree with Macho that I'd spend the money on a convertor first if you can afford it...

get a stall and DRs.

add an intake when you plan on adding headers or a cam.

Yeah, don't bother with it until you do something to the engine itself. Another vote for headers/gears/stall first.

very worth it. $300ish and guaranteed power and higher MPH in the 1/4, plus it benefits from other mods, and other mods benefit from IT, resulting in better power all around.

Where have you found the LS6 intake for $300? Cheapest I have been able to find is ~ $400. Can you get one from Dal or somewhere else cheaper?

I believe he's talking about buying it used. I see them go on the boards for $300 - $350. A few times I've seen them as cheap as $250 - $ 275 if the seller needs a quick sell

I think he needs the one with the EGR since he has a 2000. Atleast i think he does. The only one i can find with EGR is the SLP modified verson and that costs 465 at the least. A pretty hefty chunk of change for 15 hp max with a h/c combo. Alone its what 5hp? Not a whole lot

Save the LS6 intake until you do a cam swap.

lol Don't save the ls6 intake for a cam swap. It makes good power immediately. Should be one of the first mods everyone does with 98-00 cars. Plus it's cheaper than gears, cheaper than most catbacks, and cheaper than headers/ypipe-- and you won't need a tune afterward. On top it's a breeze to install.

well...you kindda need a tune...or you'll be staring at the SES light all the time due to the EGR removal

unless you anti up the $$ for the SLP intake which has the EGR provisions.
