LS6 knock sensor replacement...

Anybody have a how to guide to this?

My car started throwing a code for low voltage at the rear sensor so I'm assuming I should just replace them both.

I was looking at diagrams and it appears to be under the intake? Sounds about as stupid at the opti location on the LT1's.

they are under the intake. BUT with a dry intake, and usually reuseable gaskets; its easy to do.

basically dont break the oil pressure sensor that is just behind the intake, and retorq it properly, and its cake.

and I thought the ls6 knock sensor's were MORE sensitive than ls1's. so you might not want to go that route. oops, you have a V, which is a ls6. NM.

It's a little pain in the *** but it can be done in a couple of hours. As mentioned above, there's a vaccum line that runs behind the oil pressure sending unit, if you pull the intake out without moving the rubber line you'll snap the sensor off.

doesn't look horrible I suppose...its freaking cold out though, so I'm gonna wait until it gets a bit warmer. Hopefully shouldn't cause any damage. I'd imagine it's just pulling timing at the expense of hp.

What about the actual replacing of the sensor..is it a simple R&R or anything special needed?

It's actually two sensors that you'll be replacing, once the intake comes off here's what you'll see:

And to remove the sensors you'll first do this:

Once the connectors are off you'll have to unscrew them with a socket wrench:

Go to this website and it'll show you step by step (F-body) how to remove the intake.
