Re: LS2 vs LS6

This time around, they may have the PCV done right too.. Sounds like they did more homework to drasticaly reduce oil getting sucked into the throttle body.. plus its about 15 lbs lighter.

its an evolution of the ls family.

Why are they calling it a Gen 4? Everything is interchangeable with the LS1/6, isn't it?

And I heard that GM will call the Z06 engine the LS7.

I'll have the 2nd year of the c6 z06. 1st year engines always get tweaked. LOL

Everything is not interchangeable. The knock sensors, cam position sensor, and a few other things are different. Most parts should be interchangeable.

THe power curves are not similar. The LS2 has a much better curve.

very interesting read on the engine
it also has just about everything else covering the base v6

edit: base C6, not v6

Re: LS2 vs LS6

I believe the C5 Z06 was faster by a few tenths in the quarter than the LS2 C6.

Very good read. I really liked this quote.
All this from a car that idles smoothly, can be driven around town by your grandma, meets emissions regulations in all 50 states and is, currently, the only 400-hp sports car which doesn't cost its owner a gas guzzler tax hit.

they've (magazines) gotten mid 12s out of the c6 and gmhtp got an 11.97 out of the c5 z06 with evan smith at the helm
i think they are really really close in performance
i think the reason the z06 would edge out the c6 is because of the different gear ratios in the tranny compared to the standard c6 6spd

The Z06 might weigh less since it has the fixed roof versus the targa top C6, so that might have a bearing on the Z06 being faster than the C6

good point
although the base c6 is a lot closer in terms of weight to it than the base c5 i believe now
i couldn't see that accounting for more than a tenth but, a tenth is a tenth

Word to your mother.

The devil said my soul wasn't even worth it, though. I still had to give him $10,000 on the trade.
