Re: ls2 intake on ls1 question

when the ls2 came out, somebody tested the intake on a bolt on LS1...and lost power. seems like it was around 10lbs of torque, not sure of the hp.

basically it was too big for the near stock engine.

now since you have h/c...it would probably help. hard to say if it's worth it over the LS6 you have. how much $$ is it gonna be to get a TB to fit it?

Re: ls2 intake on ls1 question

hey jeff. im still running the stock ls1 intake (but getting 11.87 *best* )
i want to go 90/90 anyway so it would cost me the 90mm tb from fast or nick williams. i do remember that post you had with the results from the 3 intakes, just didnt know if the ls2 intake had a better flow than the ls6. my long term goal is building up a 408, so i think 90mm may be the way to go. ls6 too weak for 400+ ci?

no what kraest? not worth it? or no problems?

Not worth it.

LS6 or F.A.S.T setup, although the F.A.S.T. is obviously the better of the two. The Nick Williams is an expensive piece. I think the one for my Vette was like $700.

I wouldn't put an LS6 intake on anything but a cam-only car. You're going to leave too much on the table. (15+ rwhp and 10 or so torque on a heads/cam car)

Re: ls2 intake on ls1 question

i would wait because they are coming out with a 85 mm polished intake... it was on ls1tech somewhere... and it was suppost to put out more power than the ls6... i comes out in the next year

it is metal so it could be ported...

Re: ls2 intake on ls1 question

the 3 intake test (4 if you include the stock ls1 run)...with the ls6, truck and BBK intakes.

the ls2 wasn't tested i don't think. that was a different mag article. the title was something like "how to lose 10hp on your LS1"

i would just save up for the FAST...it's pricey...but with a 408 in the plans...it will be VERY worth it.

i'd love to be able to do one when i do the heads on my car. but i think i need to work in a better order.

more power - heads dyno tune
better rear end - 450rwhp is gonna shred my 10bolt
better suspension - would like to drop it 1" and add some decent shocks
more power - new intake/tb (see whats on the market in 2yrs)

LS6 intake > LS2 intake

There was a magazine study on it months ago in GMHTP or Hot Rod I believe.

So would LS2 GTO/Vette guys see a gain switching from LS2 to LS6 intake (given they could get an ETC tb for it)?

It would be pointless, since they'd wind up buying a smaller TB and everything. For the LS2 stuff (like the LS6 stuff), the direction to go is up.... F.A.S.T.
