This thread is already on page 2!!!
But yeah, intake & heads are different.....camshafts are irrelevant, 'cause once you go aftermarket, then an LT1 can have a better cam, but the engine still might not make the power of the LS1.

The lifters and the bore centers are the same. Short of that they are different.

1) LS1 Motor is all aluminium and 75lbs lighter than a LT1 motor.

2) The LS1 has a 3.6 crank compare to a 3.4 crank in the LT1. To me,making the LS1 a "baby stroker motor " already from the factory.

3) LS1 heads already have 2.00/1.56 valves in them already from GM compare to the 1.95 /1.52 in the LT1 heads (sweet )

I own both a LT1 and a LS1 and I love both of them. The only thing I hate about my LS1 is the piston slap I get once I start it up in the morning. Other than that ,the performance is great. But I'm still an LT1 Man 4 LIFE !!

Re: LS1 vs LT1

cool, i learned alot of wrench turning in auto shop in school. i know that sounds gay but i mean we had lifts and good tools. Great teacher. I was in adv. auto so i mean i was pullin tranny's and rebuilding old engines in school... like high school. Was alot of fun and learned alot. But as far as specs and technical stuff i have alot more to learn. Thats why i'm trying to learn about all the engines, maybe even learn specs on some mustang motors to to broaden my horisens lol
