I am doing a ls1 to ls6 swap but only because my motor is completely shot other wise i prolly wouldnt be spending the money on the expensive package but i just dont want to start mixing old parts and new parts the Ls6 block also has windows cut at the base of the cylinders to reduced crancase pressures and reduce windage. This block would be a good start if you want to build a nice stroker motor.
