Ls1 Vette vs ls1 f-body
Re: Ls1 Vette vs ls1 f-body
Dude for 30k get a 01 Z06! I saw one for 35k in Berlin, NJ. If you're going C5... get the Z06. You can definitely find a used one for the same price as that base C5
Re: Ls1 Vette vs ls1 f-body
Can someone with a C5 and a stock-looking interior post an interior pic? I keep hearing that the C5 interior is much nicer than the 4th-gen Camaro interior. I've been in a C5, but it's been a while (I didn't have my Z yet). Google Image Search didn't help much.
I'm sure it's nicer; I'm just not sure it's as much nicer as everyone says. I'd like to see the differences for myself.

Re: Ls1 Vette vs ls1 f-body
Thanks Mike.
Okay, so guys, is that really that much nicer than this?

The steering wheel has a better-looking design, and it looks like the seat is a little more plush in the Vette, but those are the only major differences I can see, and I have had tons of people comment on how comfortable the seats are in my Z, so that might just be visual.
It also looks like Mike's car has been kept fabulously clean.

Re: Ls1 Vette vs ls1 f-body
You have to add to the fact that there are NO interior squeaks or rattles on a Y-body, even with 80,000 miles like my other one had. An 80,000 mile F-body sounds like someone is shaking a can of marbles inside.
Also, when they speak of the interior, they are also speaking of 8-way power seats with lumbar adjustments, dual zone climate controls, and an alpha-numeric digital readout for all of your gauges, along with trouble code display and reset. Power window motors that don't go out, gauges that don't break, etc.
Sadly enough, the fit, finish, and feel is something that can't be explained in pictures.

Re: Ls1 Vette vs ls1 f-body
As far as design goes, the Vette isn't that much nicer than the F-Body. Kraest is right though, the car holds itself together better, and there are way more doo-dads on the Vette to play with.
Re: Ls1 Vette vs ls1 f-body
In all seriousness i would definately take an f-body over a corvette...for 1 thing my dad had a 50th anniversary convert. corvette and i have had just lt-1 4th gen f-body's when we go to the same places and park his car seemed to get more negative attention...for instance: (with the top up) we were in the Spokane valley mall parking lot parked both our cars side by side and i had my t-tops off and windows down my dad had his top up and i had cds in my car on the seat (roughly 200 in the case) and we come back his alarm is goin off his car is keyed down the side and his convertible top was all cut up......my car nothing wrong at all..cds still on seat...my zone alarm was going off though (pressure sensitive alarm goes off if you lean on it)....its just a bigger target for people.
Re: Ls1 Vette vs ls1 f-body
well I sold my father a C5 FRC and I was a vette salepersons for 2 years. THE VETTE IS ALOT NICER THAN THE CAMARO... Built better, more comfortable (if your tall) if your short you have more vision in a vette than a camaro...if your a passenger... more leg and hip room, better seats, stereo, handling ALL OF IT... it is GM's Pide and Joy with over 50 years of kicking BUTT... name anouther car with that much history and tradition? Not the 911, not the Mustang??
This is coming from a guy that loves camaros and had had up to 3 camaros at one time. And I own a C3 vette and drive my father C5 very often.
Great thing about a camaro is you get ALOT of vette for a little money. The LS1 4th GEN will be a classic like the 67-69 camaros. They started with a BANG and ended with a BANG!!
I would buy a extended warranty if you can... and shop for the best deal for what you really want... you will be living with the car for so time...get what you want.
When I got my 2000 SS ... I could have gotten a used Vette... I really wanted one. but I figured I will get the best Camaro I can order it with what options I want and have 2 extra seats just in case I have kids... WELL 6 years later no kids.. could had a used vette.... NAH... I love my SS
I will Keep it. And I will wait for the new 427 camaro ZL1 CAMARO...
If they don;t make that... then I will buy a used 06-07 ZO6 corvette.

If you have the $$ to purchase, insure, mod, and maintain a C5 'vette, THEN DO IT and never look back. This is a no brainer IMO. Life is too short to drive an f-body when you could be driving a C5.
you are mistaken; the order goes like this:
C5 > C6 > LS1 T/A > LS1 Camaro

From what I've seen, the Vette is cheaper to insure than the F-body.
