LS1 oil change...

I was reading a Camaro review on epinions.com and as a con it said you have to jack the car up to get the drain plug out (which I know) but then it says you have to lower the car again to drain it properly. I never really thought about that before, but it kind of makes sense based on where the drain plug is. Do any of you do this?

Thoughts and comments...

I put it on ramps then drain and plug, it never gets off the ramps.

probably some thing you "should" do for every car to make sure it drains properly.

but the drain plug seems to be in the same place on my ls1 as it was on my lt1, and also my old TPI 305

so i don't think it's "required"

I see what you're saying about that drain plug.

When I change my oil on the ramps, I always think that there's no way ALL of the oil makes it out of the pan because the car is on an angle. But then again, there can't be more than a few ounces of oil in there, which might get burned off over time.

Hmm yeah i see there might be a little oil in there but if you change it regularly it shouldn't hurt. Cause i'll be damned if I can figure how they want you to change the oil with that sucker on the ground LOL

Ive always done mine on a lift... never really thought about it.

Ramps would be a good solution for that, although the few extra ounces shouldnt hurt ya.
