Fuel shuts off at 6250. I have my light set at 5700 to give me shifts of around 6000-6100.

A stock LS1 has a rev limiter of 6200 RPM. You should NOT raise it any higher than that without upgrading your valve train.

People with beefed up valvetrains and bottom ends have red lines over 7000 RPM.

You should never trust your tach as a representation of where it shifts. Our tachs are slow and do not show the correct RPM at WOT, especially in the 1-2 shift, and even in the 2-3 shift.

More than likely, your shift points are as good as they are going to get with stock heads and cam, so I would leave them alone. If you start to upgrade your engine with a new cam and heads and such, you will want to get your dyno sheet and adjust your shift point to about 100 RPM past your HP peak.

Constictor.....
yea i understand what your saying, but after changing gears from stock (323) to 373 and using th HPPIII programmer it sure seems to prematurely shift into 2nd (tack shows 5500) but throws down some serious rubber hittng 2nd. I have raised it 450 rpm for the 1/2 shift (tach showing 6grand) but am wondering if I am not helping matters (yea i know track times are what i need, but not practical). yea, i did raise the rev limit to 6500 so as not to code the ECU.
any more comments?

put the rev limiter down right away. i would not touch it. if anything i would put it to 6200 in stead of 6250. i had to redo my top end because i mechanically over-revved it to about 6400-6500. it is not the funnest job in the world to do in the garage when you are trying to pay bills for school and then all the new stuff i had to buy to redo the valvetrain.
i highly recomend putting the rev-limiter down to 6200.

ill third this and say put your stock revlimiter back in.youre not making more power anyway by raising it with a stock valvetrain even with gears.
