stripped ls-6 (no intake, no wire harness, no pulleys, no exhaust manifolds etc) is around $5500. Production ls-6 engine is around $8800. Hell, you're better off just buying the ls-6 heads and cam... or a good set of heads and an aftermarket cam. Way better power increases taking that route than trying to convert an ls1 to an ls6.

Aren't LS2 heads pretty much LS6 heads?

LS6 blocks are different than LS1 blocks... they can substain high power better, bay to bay breathing is better, they rev up a little quicker. the tolerences on a LS6 are better thus permitting more power (rings seal better and keep up with compression better) other than that theyre the same...personally if i was gunna do anything other than LS1 mods id go all out and get a C5R block and build like hell. thats one baaaad b*tch. siemesed bores can be bored out like hell and is over all stronger.

Re: ls1 to ls6

you want an ls6? just do heads, cam and intake and your done. Or if your luck you can find a junked f-bod with an ls6 block. But other then that i would try gm partsdirect.com they supposedly can give you an ls6 motor for 5k and with rebates it will be down to 3. But i would personally just go to a speed shop and get the 6.0 block and modd that. Could be a hell of alot better then the ls6. and as stated the C5R motor is a beast of 427 cubic inches!

WHAT REBATES?! I just paid $5300 for a new ls6 longblock to replace my knocking ls1 and I haven't heard anything about rebates. If you know how I can get a $2000 rebate, please let me know.
