LS1 Edit vs. Autotap V5

ok i have the autotap setup that id been using on my blown s-10 and as you all probably know theres a tuner program for ls1 cars you can buy separately at a price...what would be the best bet for myself? Should i get the upgraded program or should i just continue to use it as an upgraded scan tool and get ls1 edit in addition? What are the benefits or disadvantages to both? Im pretty sure they both do the exact same thing. Im planning on putting in a cam and would rather tune it myself then pay someone $500 for every time i need to bump up the rev limiter or take out tq management.

I'm not sure exactly what you are trying to ask. But Autotap is a scan tool. LS1 edit is a programming tool. Both work together but do nothing that the other does. They are completely different. You have to use an autotap type device to correctly configure your car's computer with LS1 edit.

actually autotap now offers efi live v5 a tuning program where u can change parameters like ls1 edit ive already got the normal autotap software but dont have efi live and am wondering if its the same as ls1 edit and if its worth it since i already have autotap.

I'd check Autotaps web site on this. I'm pretty sure the parameter changes you can do with ATAP are "live" only, in that they only work while the laptop and ATAP is hooked up to the car's port. The parameters cannot be permamnently changed by ATAP, whereas Edit can make permanent changes.

The new version of AutoTap allows you to make temporary changes. You're letting the laptop control your car rather that the car's computer.

It's a great tool for tuning "on the fly" and making sure of all your settings before you plug them into LS1 Edit for the final program of your car's computer.
