LS1 durability

I have a line on a very good deal for a 99 formula with M6. The car has 140k on it, it is completely stock. It appears to have been very well maintained by the looks of things. Would there be cause for concern to replace the engine based on mileage?

My 99 just went 191k and still tags right into the 12's with the mods in my sig, cam on the way in 2 months. Other than the usual maintenance and some of the lil things that have gone bad, (o2, egr pump, axle bearings, etc.), I have no problems.

the Ls1 motors were built to last IMO. as long as they weren't really over abused especially during cold start ups, there shoudl be no need for concern. GM really did their homework when designing these motors. I know some people with high mile f-bodies and they have no complaints

what kind of deal are you getting on the car???? i know i got one on mine. also since it is winter time, if the car is located in a cold place, that is the best time to inspect it. during a cold start up the LS1s have been know to have what is known as piston slap, becuase it is a sleeve motor, but once it warms up, it goes away. don't let that noise turn you away from buying it.if you ahve any questions let me know and i will answer them as best as i can

You should be fine as long as it was taken care. I have personally seen a few 200,000 mile ls1s without problems, but have also seen 30,000 ones spin bearings.
