Re: Ls1 cam shaft help

swapping cams is not a good first upgrade. if you have an auto transmission, your first upgrade should be a higher stall torque converter. then regardless of the transmission, a different rear end ratio would help. then you need to take care of the exhaust. its a bit of a bottleneck. then you can start looking at cams.

Probably a good topic for LS1 Based Engine Tech. I'll move your thread there.

Re: LS1 camshaft help

I always like the 224/224/ .581/.581 114+4 on a sock setup. Or if you want really mild get an LPE GT2-3 (207/220) and you won't even have to tune it. You will need to do springs with whatever cam you pick, though - I wouldn't trust 100,000 mile stockers for any amount of lift past stock.

Re: LS1 camshaft help

buy a used yank ss3600 stall converter. (like $600)
tranny cooler (100ish)

With install, you're right at $1000 then your probably gonna want gears (another 200ish), then sticky tires. 1200 isnt gonna cut it.

for 1200 id get ported and polished TB (ebay, POTZ performance, send your stocker back as core, cost you like $40)
slp lid(80)
catback exhaust (300-500ish)
install (300)
tune:
TunedByFrost.com - Professional Tuning For Your LSx Powered Car or Truck
some used 555Rs in the classifieds (like 250) you're gonna need drag radials.

start saving again for longtubes, ORY, stall, and maybe cam/heads/nitrous, or turbo haha and a dynotune.

modding isnt cheap, especially if you cant do install or tuning yourself.
