ls1 bottom end too brittle?

for those of you with over 450bhp. ive been told that to go any higher in horsepower, even with nitrous, i must replace the crank, cam, pistons, connecting rods...blah, blah blah. because the ls1 is too brittle for that much hp. have you guys heard the same or had any experiences with this. im just worried about turning a $7k dollar mod (supercharger, cam, ignition, catback) into a $12k rebuild with forged everything. any thoughts?

I've got 540 hp and 500tq on a stock bottom end. This is with H\C and supercharger. Other than a blown head gasket and now my supercharger is leaking oil into the intake mine has been bullet proof. I've put about 8000 miles on it with this combo.
