Ls1??

i know this is a stupid question but what does ls1 stand for, and what is the difference between an ls1 and an ls6?

LS1 is just a parts code I.D., like Z28 and WS6 are.

The only difference between the LS1 and LS6 that I know of is about 100 HP.

LS1 is the engine code for 98-02 Camaro/Firebird(305hp (98-99) 310 hp (00-02). And also for the standard 97-03 Corvette (345hp (97-00), 350hp (01-03)). The Corvette Z06 has the LS6 engine (385 hp (00-01), 405 hp (02-03)). Hope that helps.

Ahhhhh, but the LS6 was also the name given to an engine (454??? ) that was used back in the late 60's or early 70's I think, and as well, the LT1 (not LS1) was also a version of a 350/370HP engine in the 60's/70's. I know I don't know "specifics", but the LT1 and the LS6 I aren't "new" engine codes AFAIK.

so i guess LT1 is along the same lines then, kinda like the L98 motors in the 3rd gen camaros?

Well, IIRC.... LT-1 was the one from the old days.. not LT1

The LT1 is different from the LT-1 and the LS6 is different than the LS-6
