Water leaking into back seat HELP!!!
Water leaking into back seat HELP!!!
http://pics.viperfire.com/keith/waterinbackseat.jpg
I have had my car for 1.5 months now and I just noticed this on Sunday. It rained hard on Sunday and at first I thought is was just water from a spilt water bottle on my rear passenger floor. That part of the floor was covered in water so I cleaned it up with a towel and thought that would be the end of that. Then later on the water was back again. (it kept raining). At first I thought it was coming from under the floor since there were no drip marks anywhere, then today when I got home from work, the rear passenger floor was full of water again after I just dryed it the day before, I didn't drive the car at all today and it rained pretty hard all day which leads me to believe that the leak is not coming from the floor. The car as T-tops but there are no signs of a leak from them or the side window. All the seals look good too. It doesn't leak when I wash it..
I don't want to take it to the dealer because they will charge me up the @$$. Please HELP.
Has anyone else ever had this problem or do I have a freash water spring in my back seat?

I had that problem with my 97 Camaro (based in Florida) in the front passenger floor board. The dealer never could re-create the leak even though every time it rainded I had a puddle in my floor board. I've had a similar problem in the trunk of my 01 Camaro, but only once. I adjusted the cusions on each side of the hatch and that fixed it I think. It doesn't rain much in San Diego, so I hope I got it. Good luck.
I took out the back seat today are water was under there too, it is not dripping down from above it is coming from under the carpet. all the seals look good to me everything seems to fit ok. I just don't see a spot were water could leak in and go down the side of the body and get in.
This is driving me crazy
I can post more pictures of any part of the car if anyone thinks they can help me
Thanks guys

If you havent driven it then I don't know. Under the floor boards, im those locations I belive there are rubber grommets that plug holes that lead to under the car. Onc of mine was in right and when I drove the car water would get up through the hole and get water inside. I fixed that though and it doesn't happen anymore.
this happend to me on my '98 camaro, on the driver side. carpet would be soaked in the rear, and could see water on the side near the molding against the door. turned out the door weather stripping wasn't seated high enough to make a good seal. so water would seap in slowy and when it downpoured the car would get soaked. So what i did was pull up the weather stripping at the "low" spot, and put some crap under it (small peice of folding up duct tape) just so it would lift up and make contact with the door.
i have sucessfuly tracked down 3 water leaks in my fbodys over the years, best way is to get in the car, have someone outside with a hose, and soak the car from every angle. also helps me to have the trim off, and carpet partially pulled up.
hope that helps

Jon98 hit this one on the head. However i would recomend you reseal the weather stripping with some sealer. I did this and have not had the problem since. If the problem persists the t-tops and the window may require adjustment.
i have this problem too. when i was getting some stuff for my stereo made we had the back seats out and it was like a puddle under it, not where else though. never tracked it down, so i just drained it out. maybe i shoudl check it again...
I don't think the water is coming into my car from the door because the water is also under my back seat. All my weather stripping looks fine, also the water is not dripping from above onto the floor, it is some how coming from under the carpet. and it is not coming from the rubber plugs under the floor, those were in tight plus I still got the water problem when the car was parked all day.
It is going to rain this weekend, so I'll see if I can find the source of the problem this time.

The real question is, Why does GM have drain plugs back here/ Are they expecting to have it fill with so much water to the point where you would need a plug? It should not need a plug and be dry.
