LQ4 swap in. Any tips from previous users?
Picked up a LQ4 engine and LM4/L59 PCM today for building an LSX engine for my 97. when it does go in it'll be more appropriate for an f-body. Planning on putting L92 heads and L76 intake.
I'd like to know what major hurddles i should expect?
Also is it a good idea to rebuild the engine for ground up or is the bottom end ok for 400hp? What would be a decent street/strip cam?

The bottom end can easily handle 400hp. What I would do first is raise the compression up some since the LQ4 cam with a 9.5:1 CR I would try and get it to somewhere around 10.3:1 probably higher. As for a cam one in the 228/230 range should be pretty gkoood.

here's the CompCam calculator, I know i'll never see those numbers but it gives me a good idea of what the theoretical max is. (its really close for my lt1 /w hotcam)
I did see a cam close to those durations, but its listing it as a rougher idle and I would be using this care for street more than strip.
