Lowering an SS without killing the shocks
Lowering an SS without killing the shocks
Alright, I want to lower my SS ...
On my 1997 Z28 I lowered it with an Eibach Pro kit, just springs. A year later the shocks were shot. I guess it makes sense because the shocks are more compressed all the time than they were meant to be.
So is there a lowering spring / shock combo you guys recommend? Or are shocks not the issue?

You basically have to replace the shocks with lowering springs. The stock DeCarbons are barely capable of damplening the stock springs, and even that is debatable. Lowering springs have to be stiffer to keep the car from bottoming out (it is closer to the ground after all). Stiffer springs need more dampening than the stock shocks could ever dream of controlling.
