low oil light, not low on oil?

change oil light came on 300 miles after I did oil change. Drove with it on because it doesn't know when I need to change oil. Sometime after that the low oil light came on, but the oil is not low. What is causing this, what can I do, should I worry about it?

My car does run rich if that makes any difference becuase it has an old cat converter and has a bad rear o2 sensor

2000 a4 z28 112k

thanks

On the passenger's side of the oil pan there's a sensor that's plugged in, that's the oil level sensor. Jack the car up and see if what shape it's in, could be loose, dirty or faulty but if the oil level is fine i wouldn't worry about it but keep an eye on the oil level every once in a while just in case. As far as the change oil light, it probably needs to be reset and i forgot how to do it I think one of the ways is pressing the gas pedal all the way down 4 times with the ignition on and it should reset it.

Whenever you change your oil you have to reset the gauge or the light will come on.

Turn the key,(not starting the car) hold the trip meter button down for 10 seconds.
