low coolant light - bad sensor like the lt1s?

i had the car loaded down pretty good the other day, lots of crap in the trunk, and while driving home the low coolant light came on. not sure if the added weight had anything to do with it or not.

i checked the oil, coolant and the washer fluid resevoir - all are fine.

is this light connected to other fluids? or is this a sensor that comonly goes bad? i know on the LT1's this is semi normal, and all youhave to do is unplug the coolant sensor.

any input

Its actually the LS1's where its normal for the sensor to go bad or just need cleaned.

logic would say that it's the same sensor between the two engine styles...

clean it how?

and is it located under the fill cap like on the lt1?

My understanding is that they ditched this idea for the '00 model year due to these kind of problems.

One trick - in case you have not found this out - is to let the car heat up to around the first mark on the temp gauge.

Then, shut the car off, restart it and Voila ! no more light.

Well, until it cools down again.

I ought to just unplug mine - and be done w/ it.
