Wireing question. Would like to install a trunk light.

I would like to set up a couple of small lights that light up when the rear hatch is opened. I'd like to mount them in the little trunk area where the T-tops are located.

Does anyone here know if there is a 12 volt wire that is hot when the rear hatch is open -- located somewhere back in the T-top storage area? I do have the facory 12-disc cd changer back there. Has anyone mounted such a light back there?

the only 12v on the hatch I can think of that might be is the trunk release... The defroster has a switch/relay, and the brake light is switch/relay

Might try and mount it on the left side where the cars have the OEM 12 disc changer. It needs 12v constsnt to eject the discs, when the keys are out.

Even then you would need to tap into the switch that the car uses for the interior lights. Might just be easiest to tap into this harness and have the lights come on no matter which interior light is on. Adding a few more 12v bulbs in the line shouldnt hurt the system.
