looking for some easy mods

I have a 98 ls1 car it only has a couple of mods on it. I ran it at the track last weekend and it ran good it ran a 8.33 at 86 mph. It has a cold air intake, underdrive, programmer, and a off road y pipe no converters with a 3" cat back. What are some of the free mods that i can do to help it perform a little better. I was going to try and port the mass air this weekend. Does it help much to block the coolant from going into the throtle body? Thanx for any help or sugestions

I would get some headers and a tune, the little things like throttle body bypass and porting the MAF are not going to help much.

If you car still has the EGR on it you could do the "egr mod" or buy a block off kit and expandable plug to put in the egr port on the intake. Port the TB, coolant bypass, and FRA .

LEAVE THE MAF ALONE. The MAF is very sensitive and screwing with it will likely cause reverse results. Again incase you didn't hear me the first time. Leave the MAF alone it's fine in it's stock form.

Ported TB..........ok
EGR bobbit or complete removal.............ok
Throttle blade bump stop mod..................ok
Weight removal.....................great mod
TB coolant bypass...............good to keep TB heat soak down.

Hypertech is garbage -- it's shown to actually make your car SLOWER - remove that and it'll be faster.

Did you cut away the rad support cover to expose the entire air cleaner? Also, I assume by CAI that you mean Airlid?

Send your PCM to madz28, most aftermarket programmers are useless.
