Look at local LS1 t/a

Hey guys, I'm stepping up from my LT1 T/A to a LS1.

I have some basic knowledge of LS1s but for the most part I'm the dark on baseline power, and estimated power after 1-3/4 headers (any recommendations?), 4"ypipe or 2.5" X pipe (will true duals go over axle?) with intake and rocker arms (what ratio is best?)

Thanks for any help,

Rob

Forget about true duals over the axle. They can be done, but are very difficult and expensive. Also, forget about the rockers. The stock rockers are already a roller design. Stepping up to a 1.8 ratio just isn't worth the HP/dollar, and when you decide to mod further like a cam, they're junk.

Expect 20-30rwhp from a full exhaust.

And what kind of power would I be getting totally stock? Is it recommended to get a tune after the bolt-ons?

What have people been getting with stock head and cam?

Stock RWHP depends upon the dyno, the year of the car, and the transmission type. 95% of all cars fall between the 280-310rwhp range. An early 98 automatic trans car would likely be the lowest output, while a 01-02 6 speed car would be the higher output. Anything over 315-320rwhp completely stock is a flat out lie, or they are playing tricks with the dyno.

What year and transmission TA are you looking at?

Somewhere around 290-300rwhp for a 6-speed bone stock.

They come with 1.7:1 rockers, which I'm still using on my 408. No need to upgrade.

If you're coming from an LT1, you can roughly compare it like this:
Bolt-on LS1 = Cam-only LT1 = 340-350ish rwhp
Cam-only LS1 = Heads/Cam LT1 = 380-430 rwhp
Heads/Cam LS1 = Fully built 383ci+ LT1 = 430-480 rwhp
Stroker Motor LS1 = Pwnt. = 500+ rwhp

I'm looking at a '00 Silver TA with a 6 speed,

Are there recommended parts for bolt-ons?

The usual:
Catback, Lid/CAI, Longtube Headers, Off-Road Y-pipe, etc.
