Knock Sensor Questions
I'm looking to swap my camshaft and go with a Lingenfelter GT1 cam and a LS6 intake manifold.
I'm aware that on the LT1 motors, a lot of people upgrade to the LT4 Knock Module for less false knocks associated with a larger cam.
Is there a better pair of knock sensors out there for my car? Would putting in a pair of Z06 sensors do anything?
Thanks,
Clint

According to http://www.gmpartsdirect.com the LS1 and LS6 sensors are the same.

I believe that with LS1 Edit, you can adjust how sensitive you want your PCM to react to your "knock module". If you’re changing to the GT1 cam you will need to reprogram the PCM anyway.
I doubt you will need to adjust for your knock. After the install if you monitor your retard with a scanner of some type, you should be able to tell if you have a problem.
Also, that cam is very similar to the LS1 Hot Cam. It has around 560 lift instead of 525 and the LSA is 113 instead of 112. Other than that I believe they are the same. I have not heard of and knock retard problems with the Hot Cam.
If you install that Cam please post your results. I was wondering how that cam would perform with just headers and springs.
I just read an article in Hot Rod Magazine where a 2001 Trans Am turned 10.5 sec in the 1/4 mile at 130 mph with that cam, LPE LS6 Heads (ported), 4.11 gears (12 bolt rear-end), full roll cage and a 4000 stall converter.
Good Luck,
Al
