whats up guys,
just picked up my new DD which is a 2002 Z28. first of all what do these cars dyno stock? anyone know? i've heard the 02 is the best z28 as far as numbers go, and improved alot of parts... also where should i go with this car as far as performance, i'd like to be in the low 12's like my old 98 was. this car honestly feels as quick as my 98 with the mods it had....the 02 only has exhaust that i can tell (i just got it today). it''s silver with chrome wheels has 72k miles, and it's an auto with t tops. what really wakes these cars up? I have a lingenfelter corvette i've had for about 3 years, you'd think i know more about cars but honestly i'm not a gear head at all lol. I don't want power like my vette has, just a fast DD i can whoop on these '11 mustangs with....thanks in advance by the way, i don't really want to get into internals like heads, or a cam because of the DD factor, thanks again..

stock ls1 dynos around 295-325 for a stick depending on the dyno. Auto's 285-320. +- 5 for each. The lower numbers would be a 98/99 car. higher = 01/02.
to run 12.9-13.1 a lid, catback, and stock converter w a nitto drag radial. in decent weather.
to be consistant bottom 12's, full exhaust, tune, 4K-ish stall, gears, suspention and a sticky drag radial. some weight reduction will help a little as well.
might even run high 11's with this setup. at that point, I'd plan for a new rearend too.
next step is a cam and heads, and run low low 11's. - 10.85ish.
Enjoy the car.

far as low 12s i would go full exaust, lid, tune, stall, tune 410s.should make it easy.
thats all i had to go 7.83 in 1/8th with a 1.7 60(minus stall im a stick shift)with some real tires it should go at least 7.7xs full weight plus some 142k miles, then i turned on my 150 shot and broke my strage ds..

You've got a 2002 Z28 right? And you used to have a 98? Then why do you need stock dyno numbers or suggested mods for low 12s? They're the same car... duplicate what you had

The 01-02 cars have the LS6 intake and better flowing heads. The 98-00 have the bigger stock cam though if I remember right.
I personally wouldn't do 4.10's in an auto, the most I would go with would be 3.73's if doing any highway driving. LT headers and full exhaust, either a cat back or TSP duals. Lid, ported t/b, stall, tune, suspension and drag radials. If that doesn't get you where you want, you can avoid heads/cam swap by getting nitrous or a supercharger (procharger, vortec or maggie), getting a dyno tune and calling it a day. A maggie (magnacharger) would make great low end for driving around town but can suffer from heat soak. They also don't have the potential that the other options do as far as making power so I think roughly 500-550ish rwhp is about thier limit (limited to the 112 sized maggie in the F-body).
