Just bought my LS1, questions on cam.

Well I just bought a 2002 Z28. The car is beautiful. I have missed my old Camaro ever since I sold it so I had to get another one. I'm familiar with all the mods on the car except the type of cam in it. It is a custom ground cam. The specs on it are 228/288 588 lift on a 112 LSA. Anybody know about that cam? What type of cam is it?(NA, supercharger, nitrous?)

It makes good power, it was dynoed at 385.5 rwph/ 376 rwtq. It drives real nice, except it is a bit rough in 1st taking off sometimes. It is pretty lopey also.

TSP 228R camshaft

doesn't look particularly "custom" to me

should be a good N/A cam, somewhwere inbetween mild and big on the camshaft scale goes.

sounds like it produced good numbers.

It definately won't pass emissions in CA.

It may be a little rough in first if your still using the stock stall. Up it about 800 to 1,000 R's and you be loving it

Well the car is a M6. I think it may be partly the cam, and the Spec stage 3 clutch.

Specs are known to chatter.

I used to have a Mcleod Street Twin Setup with aluminum flywheel. I switched and put in the Spec Stage 3 setup with aluminum. Freakin' chatter. I already hate these clutches. MCLEOD is the best.

Did you break it in right? I have driven a car with a stage 3 and a stage 4 and both are as smooth as glass.

Yep. I broke it in right, that's for sure. The McLeod rules though, if you've ever tried one, you'll see the difference.

I can pass emissions with a very conservative tune.

wow...good for you...doesn't really help our discussion if you don't list the cam you're running.

Sorry that was a typo.... That should have read: It can pass emissions with a very conservative tune. In california, the TR224 cam passes with flying colors, without a special tune for smog testing. A 228 cam, with a special tune, should pass.
