?? Jet Hot Header Installation

Im installing Jet hot LT headers and an ORY-pipe on my 98 Z28. Anyone know if o2 simulators are required? Will I just get a check engine light if I leave them off or will it effect my performance. Also I have the same question about the EGR. Should I get the headers with or without the EGR? Will I have to tune my car? Thanks

Re: ?? Jet Hot Header Installation

o2 sensors are not required. yes you'll trip the SES light, but it has no affect on the running condition of the engine. so if you can deal with the light...you can wait. although you will not know if there is a code for something else if the light is always on.

the same goes for the EGR, the light will trigger, but no performance lose will happen.

i say ditch all the emmissions

to get the SES to turn off for the EGR you need a tune, for the rear o2 sensors you can get away with sims. but may as well save up for a good mail order tune and remove both instead of spending $100 on sims and getting the tune anyway later.

for max gains from the headers a tune is a good idea, but hundreds of people run just fine without the tune.

check out my helpful header install guide...any other questions just ask.
