It's 100% mental.... It's like "feeling" an improvement after you polish your MAF......
THere are guys out there running !HIGH! HP#'s and still use the stock bellows.....and the stock MAF, but let's not start that again..... (*ahem* Speed inc's 2002 Z28, blown and sprayed 383ci)...
