Indy-like dual sound?

This maybee impossible on an LS1 but is their any dual exhaust setup that will make an LS1 sound more exotic? I also have a pair of Hooker LT's that I plan to put on soon.

I love the deep growl but I am looking for something that is far more rare. I have listened to the Corsa Exhaust systems on the Corvette C5's and they sound great!

All help is needed!

Re: Indy-like dual sound?

problem with "exotic" sounding cars, corvette included, is the way the system is made. You're always going to have that deep muscular sound.

Borla adjustable with a half-plate in sounds relatively indy-like, but it still rumbles.

if you want top fuel, get any exhaust system that flows good n' sounds deep, then get the t-rex cam and kooks 1 7/8 headers...i know that much magnaflow makes it sound like a mini top fuel car with that setup.

Re: Indy-like dual sound?

the reason you cant get that higher pitch smooth sounding sound is because you're compressing much more in each cylinder, the porsche carerra gt for instance, its a v10, but its only a 5.7 liter(350), therefore its less displacement in each cylinder, making a lil higher pitch noise, but its not emphasising the small amount of displacement witht he exhaust like the 4 cylidners do, which makes them sound like a humming bird because they dont have enough cylinders to make em sound good.

Indy cars, Ferrari's, and such often use a 180* crank instead of a 90*, which is were a lot of the sound difference is. The two most "exotic-like" cat-backs will probably be Corsa and B&B.

Re: Indy-like dual sound?

My car with QTP LT's, ORY, and stock catback with a Dynomax Super Turbo muffler sounds really different from any other LS1 with LT's. It's definately more muffled, so it doesn't rumble as much. I think it sounds fairly exotic. Who knows...

Re: Indy-like dual sound?

a cherry bomb cat-back at any muffler store will offer a higher pitched sound too, but who's to say if you'll make any power gains with that, or it would be the sound you're looking for.

Re: Indy-like dual sound?

I have a straight pipe from my cats to the 3 inch resonator tips on my car. There is no chamber of any kind in between. I would suppose you would want that indy car sound in a rev. on mine, at exactly 3100 rpm's, it sounds super sweet mine, like that indy sound you are talking about. just an idea, and its not as loud as you think.

Indy cars also run at higher rpms well over 10k

Re: Indy-like dual sound?

Sounds like you already made up your mind on what exhaust you want. Get a Corsa.
