I'm buying a 11 sec Z28 next week..

The car is a 99 Z, 6sp and has every possible bolt on. The car has been in the tens on nitrous, but has had the engine rebuilt and the current engine has not been sprayed. Is there anything I should look for as far as the car coming apart? I had a friend that built a 91 Mustang and was running 7.7's in the 1/8 and his floorboards started buckling. In other words, what are your opinions on buying a modded F-body?

go for it if you are getting a good deal. Expect it to break down more than a stock one though.

A few things ... is the rear a 12 bolt ... what or did the clutch get upgraded ... has the tranny been beefed up ...

If all of the above are still stock ... then they are probably on life support ...

When the engine was rebuilt, was it upgraded ... ie forged bottom end or just replaced like for like stock components.

Also look at the rear quarter panels, if it has had a lot of hard launches, the quarter panels will start to distort, particularly if no SFCs have been added. Also the hood may be out of alignment.

Good Luck

Persoanlly I would not buy a modded car that you know has been down the strip several times, unless you get a super deal, less than Kelly Blue Book, excluding all the mods. With the fast car you will want to go fast so I'm sure this guy probably isn't all that nice to his car. I prefer to do all the modding myself so I know its done right! Thats just my opinion, choose for yourself!
