hey guys just got my ws6 back form shop thank god its under warranty my service engine light came on yesterday so i took it in today. i had to get a new catalytic converter. The technician said it could have been caused by my cutout being open. is that possible? i need to know so i can uncap it again cause driving a quiet car is terrible. thanks

 

anything is possible but no, thats not the reason for it going out. they are kinda faulty anyway (mine went out also) and they come from no where

 

2000 and 2001 F-Bods have a TSB out for a faulty cat ... usually the driver's side. What year is your car?

Since you've got an '01 ... blame GM for a faulty cat. Don't blame your cutout.

 

my rents arent letting me uncap my cutout becuase the guy at the dealership thats wut probably caused it. :-( i need to take it off i hate it being quiet.

 

ask your mechanic to explain how an open cutout can cause a cat failure which is at least 3 or 4 feet UPSTREAM of the cutout
