is this a bad thing or does it not matter? the guy didnt flush it out or anything he just did a regular oil change and put 10w40 in it. is this ok for my car? if not what should i do?

 

Won't hurt a thing. I run conventional oil with no problem, and have for a long time.

 

i've always been told it is good to go from regular oil to synthetic, but not synthetic to regular oil

 

My brother has been an Certified Ford SVT mechanic for several years. When I started to run synthetic in the SS he told me never to switch back. I don't remember why but he sure got the point across to me.

 

Well it should not be a problem. I know I switched around a year ago from regular oil to Mobil 1 and I will never go back

I need proof of that one.

I ran Mobil 1 for the first 2 or 3 oil changes on my car, then switched to running Castrol GTX from there on in (didn't feel like spending 3X as much, when I was doing changes every ~3k ). Currently got ~46k on my car, been to the track a bunch of times, and the car runs stronger now than when it was new.

Oil is still oil, it's just put through a different refining process, that's all. Your still mixing oil with oil.....not like mixing oil & water.

 

well i just hope it doesnt hurt it, it has almost 78k miles on it now and i dont know how long synthetic was run in it before i got it. its doing ok so far
