ecm year question

is there a difference in the ease of programming from 98-02 computers for the ls1?

I'm looking at two ls1 combos for my swap and one is an 00 and the other is an 01. the two are identical however the 00 is slightly cheaper so i'm just curious if there is a difference between the two?

can you run a 01 motor with an 99 computer.. mix and match?

98 PCMs are different than 99-02 years.

Re: ecm year question

The stock programming between the 2 is very different. The 2000 PCM will look for a properly fuctioning EGR system because all 2000 F-Body LS1's were equiped with EGR whereas the 2001 PCM will not, being no 2001 LS1 came with EGR. The 2000 Programming has much more aggresive timing tables and Power Enrichment is leaner than the 2001 programming. The Volumetric Efficiency tables are quite different as well. If you plan on getting custom programming, get the cheaper of the 2 as they can program it how you need it. Just make sure you have an excellent tuner that tunes more than just WOT.
