I accidentaly put too muhc oil in my car.
Re: I accidentaly put too muhc oil in my car.
I don't believe it would hurt anything... most LS1's would have that extra oil burnt up w/ in a couple thousand miles anyways
If you're really worried about it... you can always loosen the plug on the oil pan and let some of it leak out.

half a quart probably isn't worth it but if you wan't you can either 1) loosen the plug like Mystic said or buy a cheap siphon pump at the auto-parts store...you'll find at least a few uses for it over time, particularly anytime you overfill something that doesn't have a drain plug (ie: tranny/rear etc.)

According to the manual the LS1 gets 5.5 quarts but I always use a full six. I also use the K&N long style oil filter which helps with the extra 1/2 quart.

i used a bigger filter on mine mobli-1 i think it was a 206 part# it does not
hang that much lower than a stock one still have plenty of room.

I just used a free oil change coupon yesterday @ Pep Boys, and lo & behold - the work order read 6 quarts for a 5.7 motor ...
Of course, these are the same guys that managed to get grease on my floor mats - I guess since it was a free oil change, a paper mat was just too much to ask for, eh ?
I got it out with soap & water, so life is good again.
I hate not having a house & therefore a place to change my own oil !
Britt
P.S. I burned about a 1/2 quart in 4300 miles w/ dino oil - with synthetic I would burn a 1/2 quart in ~ 3K.
