Noobs.

I wonder how long it took him to think of that response.

Ya know, I could hook you up with the local F-body club in OKC they're cool guys. I could also give you the address for the message board we use, but I guarantee no one will like your attitude.

Sorry Greed4Speed for offending your silly little forum netiquette. I am a camaro newbie and I tried but the forum search kept saying the word "SS" didn't exceed the minimum word length which is supposed to be over 3 words.

I suppose I should have tried harder, but I was in a hurry and needed to get to a college class. I have made it clear that the Thread was over the hp differences, hence the title (obvious, isn't it?). If you don't want to add anything constructive, don't reply to it. Let me enlighten you on the word "forum".

Main Entry: fo·rum
b : a public meeting place for open discussion c : a medium (as a newspaper) of open discussion or expression of ideas

Was this one of those "College for Kids" classes? Was "forum" the word of the day?

The same amount of time it took you to think of the classic "noob" comeback.

Anyhow, there's no need to fight and turn this into a big feud over something as small as this. I apologize for being a jerk to you earlier. I thought you were being rude in your first response to this thread, and took it personally. That was my fault. I also apologize to all the members of the board that were insulted by my comments as well. No hard feelings? I hope not.

Let's all enjoy the forums and discuss camaros.

GM rated Z28's 305-310HP and SS's is rated 320-325HP.

'96-'99, and very early '00, SS have upgraded suspension parts (basically 1LE sans shocks). 00+ SS have the same suspension as a base Z28, with the exception of a 32mm front sway bar compared to the Z28's 30mm.

Ratings aside, they all dyno the same within a small range.

I have a 99 SS, 00 Ws6, and a 98 Z28. The SS has no more power then a Z28. If anything there may be a difference of 2-5 hp from the higher flow muffler given to the SS. The SS is given a stiffer suspension, hood, spoiler, wheels, and tires. The rest is the same. The WS6 suspension is the same as the stock SS suspension. The SS could have been ordered with a level 2 suspension with Bilstein struts/shocks and stiffer springs. I think the level 2 also has larger sway bars too.

Talking

My thanks go to everybody for responding to my thread! I appreciate it.

I decided to go with a 2000 Camaro SS instead of a Z28 mainly because it's an SS, and SSes are just way too cool-looking! Also, SS generally has a higher resale value than a Z28.

I have no plans currently to race it. It's too good and rare a car. I will likely baby it as much as I can.

Cool

Yep, no difference power-wise, but the hood and rims are better looking.

By the way...you don't really believe these HP ratings do you? GM claims the LS1 in the Z28 and Formula makes 305hp...yeah right, try 300hp at the wheels! Same goes for the SS, WS6, and Firehawk! In my honest opinion...the Firehawk lost it's glory after 1992. The 1991-1992 Firehawks were badass....they were actually FASTER then all the other 3rd gens, not just appearance packages. I think GM should have done the LS1 in the SS, WS6 and Firehawks with the LS1 Hotcam. They should have set the special models above the others. They portraid them as being higher performance, but they weren't. You can take a 2001 Z28 M6 bone stock and race it against a 2001 SS M6 with all the same conditions and same driver....I would bet my money they average very close times and dyno close also. Same goes for a Formula, Trans Am, Ws6, and Firehawk. You can't go wrong with any of the models.
