How much to get an airpump replaced?

Hi all, the airpump has been dead on my 98 SS for sometime now, the check engine light is on, and as a result i cannot pass emissions. I have been drivein around with a reject sticker now for 6 months and almost got pulled over the other day...so now i am getting worried in mass if you have a reject for more then 3 months they can take your car. But ne way so now i have to hunker down and spend the $$...to get it fixed. I am takein it to a guy that likes to work on f-bods he will be doing my body work for the dent i recieved in the rear, (hit and run) so i have to pay out of pocket for that. So i figured while its there, might as well have him put the airpump in too. So how much do you guys think it will cost to get the airpump replaced? Around 2-300 bucks?? I mean it isnt all that hard to reach, its right behind the headlight assembly... anyhelp would be appreciated.

I had an air pump recall on my '96 LT1 back in 2000. The cost would have been $372 parts and labor if I paid for it. I'm not sure if that included LS1s as well. You may want to check.

i have an air pump that I just took off. If works, I just deleted the option. Let me know if you still need it. As for installing it, its not that hard, its just concealed. Have you checked the wires connecting the air pump?

Check into the Federally Mandated 8 year 80k mile Emissions warranty. See if it has to be fixed by GM under law. It is not well known about, and dealers are very reluctant to do the work, but it is an emissions component, and I would think it would be covered.

The exhaust manifold studs on my wrangler started shearing off, and their replacement was covered by DC after 2 weeks of arguing with DC and the dealer. Eventually I won, and saved about 400 in labor.
