How hard is it to install a new set of heads?
How hard is it to install a new set of heads?
I am looking into buying a set of heads from AFR for my '98 SS A4. They are 205cc with 66cc and 76cc combustion chamber volumes available? By the way, what's the difference between "as cast" version and CNCed version. I've never done internal engine work before. But I have done every other mod to my car by myself, including: SLP Lond tube headers w/SLP loudmouth exhaust, SLP air lid, MAF ends, Fast toys ram air, Underdrive pulleys, BMR adjustable torque arm, and new plugs and wires. Please let me know if you think I can do it myself and if I need any special tools for the install.
Thanks
Thanks

To me head swaps are no big deal and don't require any special tools, but then I own/run a small performance shop and have done a number of heads and cam installs. Still all in all it is not that hard or complicated and you can get some very good info at ls1info.com.
As cast mean that the heads have not been ported on a CNC machine.

that is jmX's site, read the "head/cam install" page
infact read it a couple of times
its probably the best article on the net
its not hard at all to do the work, easiest way to do it on your first time is to label everything you remove that your not that familiar with
and one of things that most people screw up their first time, is putting the grounds on the back of the heads back on
so keep that in mind
But if I were you, I'de look into getting heads and a cam at the same time.

Tonawanda NY you say? hmm, if you need a hand I could help out, or if you need a shop to do some work I could set you up with that cheap too. I live in T-Town too, and could always use another fbody project to take a look at
