Help me select a Cam to match these heads.

the car is a 99 trans am, stock, except for SLP Loudmouth. I plan to get a set of Patriot Performance LS6 Stage II heads and need to find out what are some good cams to go with these heads.. keep in mind, this is my daily driver and i want it to still idle halfway smooth, so please dont suggest too wild of a cam. I want to retain my streetability. Also I plan to put a 75 horse shot on it sometime in the future if that makes a difference in cam selection.

Also, do i need to get rid of my cats? and get long tube headers? Ive heard this is a good way to optimize horsepower when getting a cam. just wanted to ask. any other pointers, tips, suggestions?

by the way, what is the advantage of getting the LS6 5.7 heads over the 5.3 heads? i know the LS6 heads are better if you decide to increase your displacement, but i dont plan to do that, and I know they lower the compression, and i am told this is a good thing, but how does lowering the compression help? i should know this but i guess there was a time in everyones life when they didnt know it either. thanks

for a good streetable cam go with something like a 226/230 at .050 and .585/.592 lift and since you mentioned N2O go with a 114lsa.

lowering or raising compression is neither good or bad by itself, it depends on your application. on a stock motor going NA I would raise the compression to about 11:1 and still be comfortable with a 100 shot of N2O using a wet system

.

Van5150 - All I know for sure is that with the LS6 heads 6.0 L heads, they are good if you ever want to increase the displacement in your engine. (like to a 383 etc) and also, the chamber size is larger so you can lower your compression to 9:1 or somewhere around there. however i got the smaller sized chamber because I plan to run nitrous. Ive also been told that the LS6 design just flows better in general thats about all I know. I was just told that the LS6 head was better, so i took the advice.
