I really do not believe they let you disable the passkey theft deterrent system on any year Chevy.
The resistor mod is not hard to do. My friend did it for me though as I suck at electronics. You need to measure the range on your key and then find a resistor in the same range. Then under the steering column there are 2 orange wires. Ah hell, forget it.
I did a search for you on LS1.com and suggest you contact this guy:
"If you're talking about the passkey system then yes you can disable it for good with the resistor trick. If you're referring to the actual alarm, then you can program it off. Just follow the instructions in the owners manual for turning off the alarm. If you meant the passkey system, shoot me an email and I'll walk you through it. t.r.wilz@larc.nasa.gov"
I'm almost positive that will solve your problem for good.

Anytime dude. I don't blame you for not wanting to spend the $500.
The problem with searching on LS1.com is that they deleted alot of old posts but I did a search under "general help" with the key word "security".
You'll have to know a bit on electronics to do it (that's why I let my friend do it).
If you still can't find good instructions email me directly and I'll forward it to my friend and have him explain it to you. BTW, if you email me I'll be gone this weekend returning back Sunday night.
