Are you sure the battery is good? - Have it tested.
What about the Alternator?

yeah i switched batteries and put a new one in it. The car wont start with a bad alternator???? I can start the car with no problems when i hard wire the starter, had to have a friend do that to get home from work.

u may have a short in a wire or, i know this sounds stupid but make sure you have the clutch engaged all the way to the floor.

You might also hold the key all the way to the start position and pump the clutch pedal. If it hits and misses, the switch on your clutch pedal is going out.

Are you sure you don't have a problem with the security system? I had this problem. The part in the steering column went bad and wouldn't detect the chip. The problem was intermittent.

Had the same problem with my '97 Z28 M6. It eventually got to where it wouldn't start at all. I had it flat bedded into the dealer and it was the security system. The lock cylinder wasn't reading the resitor chip in the key.

I had heard somebody had it covered under warranty where it would have cost $500.
Since I no longer have warranty I put a resistor in and have bypassed the security so now you don't need a chipped key to start your car. More importantly, the car starts everytime again.

I think on my '02 it lets you disable that security function. Check your owner's manual. See if you can disable it on a '99.
