Hey guys, i just got a new K&N FIPK: Fuel Injection Performance Kit for my 2001 z28. (link below)

It has the new filter, etc. However, i also want to add a new lid at the same time. I am going to get the slp i think but i read something that says i need a "breather filter" for a 2001. Does this include me seeing as i have a new filter already? What exactly is the breather and do i need it for my project? TIA

Ummmm...if you're doing an FIPK like that, you don't do an aftermarket lid too. It's one or the other. The filter breather you're talking about is for the AIR system that hooks into the side of the factory lid setup. When you disconnect your factory lid to install the FIPK, you'll see a black hose on the driver's side that feeds the AIR pump that sits in front of the front left tire. The air feeding the pump should be filtered. That's what the breather is for. You should be able to pick one up at any local AutoZone-type parts store.

Forgive me its been a while since i've started modding my car. I did a lot of this with my v6 before someone killed it last year and i'm finally getting together a little $$ to start on my ls1. This will be the first thing i've done to it.... excluding the BMR STB from the old v6.

FIPK kit should come with a breather for the AIR ...
