Headers?

I've been wanting the Mac headers for a while, but I can't seem to find them by themselves (without any y-pipe).

I also noticed that long tubes are not as expensive as i thought they were. The Hooker LT's are like $420 i think. What kind of power difference is there between these two headers. I'm welding up true duals this summer, so keep that in mind. Also, how different will they sound on true duals? I don't like raspy loud exhaust, I do like very low deep rumble and roar.

Which header is easier to weld up a custom Xpipe to?
Which header is easier to install?

Oh, and for the immediate future, i will be re-using the stock cats. Until I can afford some nice Randoms.

With LT's the x-pipe setup would need less tubing. The sound is unreal. I have no rasp. Check out the duals thread above for a pic.

Since you plan to run the stock cats, I assume this will be a street driven car. However, long tube headers are not smog legal in California. While long tubes produce the most gains in LS1s, they move the cats back. Since they are farther down stream from the exhaust ports, they operate at cooler temperatures which effects their ability to scrub the exhaust gases.

On the other hand, perhaps you know the right people

Technically and officially, yes.

You may pass the sniffer, but you will fail the visual.
