Had car dynoed

Mine is a 2002 A4, with the 3.23 gears, with the following mods:
SLP Lid, cutout, ported and polished MAF, and a passive FRA.

314rwhp, and 324 lb. ft of torque

How is that compared to other similar cars like mine?

Thats good. I would guess its a little above par. Most LS1s dyno 295-310rwhp stock.

Even the 01-02s?

I think thats just about right, maybe a little low. Actually, I think that sounds right. With a catback/cutout he'll see 320.

Your right that is a tad low, I got the torque and hp numbers mixed up. Not to worry still better then what 99.934325435% get stock.

Hey just out of curiosity, what's the flywheel HP/torque. I dunno how to convert from rwhp to fwhp. All i know is that autos drivetrain loss is 20%. Thanks

I think its 18%. If it is 18% you would be looking at close to 370fwhp.

Better than mine (SLP LID and K&N only mods):
309.6rwhp/328.7rwtq
Stock dyno in Sig.

Thumbs up

I think it is a tad on the lower side for a 01+ car, but still a good starting point.

Good job!

Thumbs up

I think those numbers are very good, my 2001 Z28 with lid, catback, and 3.73's was 291RWHP, 355RWTQ (both at 5400RPM).

Identical to my dyno. I have M6 WS6 with lid.

Those numbers are great IMO! Remember, A4's will show lower RWHP than M6 cars, so that's pretty good!

The equation to figure out FWHP (fly-wheel horsepower) is this:

FWHP = RWHP / (1 - percentage loss)
(remember, percentage is written as a decimal)

Example:

314 RWHP / (1 - .18) = 382.9 FWHP!!!

Now even if you go conservative and say that the A4 only used ~10% power, you still get:

314 RWHP / (1 - .10) = 348.8 FWHP! (which is exactly what the LS1 is rated at...........well, in the 'Vette). In reality though, we know that the drivetrain loss is higher than 10%, so your engine is making more than 350 HP........probably closer to 370+ FWHP.

But he has a cutout, so I don't think it'll improve with a cat back.

It sounds about right. I did 317, then my last was 322. i dynoed before I did the FRA and ported the Maf though. i think it feels stronger now. I am waiting for a set of Lt's and I'll go back!

I have an M6 with just cat back and just dynoed 319 rwhp and 330 lbft of tq.
Pretty good numbers if you ask me.
I have seen a few autos dyno @ or below 300rwhp.
May be the Wednesday car, Friday car deal

It looks about 5 RWHP less then what I would have expected but overall not bad. You got a fast car and that's all that really matters. Heck our aftermarket torque converters tend to eat some RWHP but yet make our cars much faster.
