grinding going into 3rd an 4th

grinding going into 3rd an 4th

well my car doesnt do it but my friends 2000 trans am does he says its from "slamming" the gears so much from racing and what not but i dont see how that could be? anyone else ever have this problem, and what could be causing it??? just some curiousity

Speed shifting your manual trans. is about the worst thing you can do. It doesn't give the synchros a chance to get both gears at the same speed allowing a smooth engagement. It also can bend shift forks, which will cause a jump out of gear condition. Your friend is right, he caused his own problem.

He also says that after he gets his 4:10's put in that the grinding will be gone?just wonderin if thats true too?

Sorry,but that won't make a bit of difference.The trouble is in the trans,not the rear
