Ok I have a 2000 camaro ss and whenever I am at a stop light idling w/ air conditioner on the battery meter will drop to the red for a few seconds and then rise back up. It only does this when, what sounds like the compressor, turns on. Could it be I need a new battery or what??? Thanks.

could be battery or more likely the alternator.

having the AC on draws alot of power, as well as takes alot of power from the car. alot of guys will notice a power loss (as in slower car) when the AC is running since it requires so much effort to run.

i'd take the car to a shop that can annalize the battery and the alt
