A good deal or not?

Okay i just "bought" a 98 z 160k miles with an engine that has been swapped out with another one which had 15k miles. A new clutch has been added aswell. However the tranny is stock . Theres apparently no problems with any gears, i'm still getting it inspected by a "AAA" approved spot in texas. I ended up paying 6k for it. Assuming theres nothing currently wrong with it, does this sound like a good deal? Or should i be worried about the tranny?

Since you said it got a new CLUTCH, I'm assuming it's then a 6-speed, correct?

As long as it shifts through the gears without grinding or hanging up anywhere, then there's really nothing to be concerned about. The T56's are pretty tough units, and as long as the car was driven "modestly" (and shifted properly) then the tranny should be fine .

There's nothing to worry about with the T-56 if it shifts correctly. Worst case scenario, a rebuild would cost less than $500 in parts.
