Going to look at an LS1 tomorrow
I just want to say i agree with you guys about young kids getting brand new cars giving to them by there rich *** parents. I have been saving for a car since 13 and over this last summer I was a Lifeguard working 48 hours a week. My father would never buy me a car and he's given me nothing towards it. I even have to pay my own insurance.
now u know y insurance rates are high for v8's
Every kid that had a v8...new mustangs or T/A's had some kinda accident in high school......guess what's contributing to the high insurance rates on these cars.....i really do think u should get a break on ur insurance if your IQ is up there...

All u old people w/ ur 3rd gen POS's r just jealous of us kids because we remind u of the kids who A) beat u up in highschool
B) made fun of u..C) nailed all the hot girls in high school why u guys were stuck orking at a grocery store tryin' 2 learn the value of a dollar. I wish ur old fashioned values were worth anything but unfortunately the world doesn't work like that. it's what u have and who u know that makes u a person in this world. Take this for example What do most of the hottest girls in the world want? A Baller that will buy them **** not a avergae blue collared worker working 9-5 that's y u guys have average lives and average wives w/ the same old setup maybe 2 cars 2.5 kids living in the subburbs. i didn't makethis rule up but that's the diff. between ur generation and my generation BTW i'm 18 and have a 1999 LS1 SS and i've never been in a wreck ( knock on wood) and i can handle the power. also, having an ls1 has catually brought me nd my dad closer b/cwe both love cars the only idff. is that he loves mustangs...he just recently purchased an '03 Cobra, so to sum it up US 16-18 yr olds r driving around in better cars that u 25-40 r. olds r driving around in now. sorry this was so long but i just had to write back against that ignorant flame about conformity. peace!!

I have to agree about kids with the money. They need to be careful, with some people it's like giving kids a loaded shotgun. I've got a cousin who just turned 18 and has totaled two cars and just wrecked a third, but it's still ok for driving, and these cars he's had aren't close to something like an LS1. It's true that you will have more respect for your car if it's your own cash. But good luck to all.
its gonna be funny when these rich punk kids eventually become one of us poor white collar trash workers!! 9 out of 10 of them dont work for $hit because they have always had stuff handed to them in the past. and i'm not an old man dude, I happen to be 23, and you have it all wrong - us white collar chumps are the same guys that key your daddies brand new car in the highschool parking lot in front of you, then kicked your a$$ while banging your girlfriends!!!! If you didn't have your daddies, you would be driving a tempo w/nos on it
and also - I may have driven POS 3rd gens, but they were ALL mine! so remember that next time your dad grounds you and wont let you take his car to the strip on friday night! And to hip you to a little something else, a baller is not a punk that buys some chick dinner at a fancy restaurant with his dads visa card. Your a baller when a chick is buying you $hit out of the SUMMIT catalogue for your car!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PS: anybody young that reads this and has busted their a$$ to pay for their own crap can disreguard

im glade you were in a position to get your car so early in life. but, i am concerned that you have. im glade "you" believe you are capable of handling the power. if you truely are then you are part of an extremely small minority.
when i was your age i drove a 10 yr old s-10 pickup that i spent every weekend under the hood. i missed getting a 4 yr old (at the time) t/a by 500 bucks at an auction. i was soooo dissapointed then. but looking back on it...... i can't tell you how happy i am that i didn't. the things i have learned from being under that s-10 every weekend and the fact that im still alive far outweigh how cool it would have been to drive around that t/a.
the second problem i have with you driving the car you do at your age (assuming someone paid for it for you, if not then it does not apply to YOU). you didn't work for it. it was given to you. its a simple reality that your appritiation of something is directly porportional to the amount of sacrifice required to obtain it. the more you give up, the more you suffer for something. the more you respect it. meaning if mommy and daddy buy you a car you will have 0 respect for it because you didn't have to work for it. very few things more dangerous than someone with EXTREMELY limited driving skills in a 300+ hp car who have no respect for it because they didn't have to earn it.
the fact your young and inexperienced is danger enough. let alone the fact you don't respect the car nor its power make the situation all that more dangerous.
like i said, i don't know you nor do i know your situation. you could very well be the exception. i hope you are. be safe man.
oh and btw, nice car
. spoiled or no i can't argue with your taste

well put....
And by the way 1999silverSS.. i'm 21, so i don't think i'm that old, and i hardly fit into the category that u described... little arrogant punks with a big mouth like you never beat me up, never made fun of me, and i was always nailing YOUR girl...
And yea i know the rules of the game, i'm fully aware of them, and know how to play'em, but i didn't have my daddy (who happens to be a Doctor by the way) buy me a brand new car... ask me if he even bought me my POS '84 camaro??? NOPE.... he paid insurance and that was it...and i'm sorry but your theory of having an LS1 bringing you and your dad closer together is a weak way of justifying you having a car like that... u can bond with your pops just as easily with a beat up, rusted 72 camaro, while spending time on it fixing it up...The bottom line pretty much is that i don't mean to hate on you or anyone else who has is good or better than i did, but don't go around talking Sh*t about it, trying to bring yourself above anyone else, including us "old people w/ ur 3rd gen POS's " as you so nicely put it.....
Okay if we didnt specify our ages on the message board there wouldn't be so much flaming. Not all Teen Drivers are bad. True teenagers get in more crashes than the adults, but that doesn't mean all teenagers are bad drivers. Ive been driving for about a year, and managed to get sponsored and get a free enrollment into a performance driving course. Now I don't know why you all that are 18 and over hate teen drivers so much, probably because you had an incident with one, and I am sorry for that. And its none of your business who bought the car or not. peace
SpecForceZ28, no my friend. most of us likely have not had an accident caused by/involving a teen. but we know how we were at that age. and we see the exact same things, whether or not we want to admit it :P, in the youth of today.
as with all things driving is an experience thing. the more you drive the better you get. the better you get the more you can handle. there are of course your extremely rare naturals.
the average teen does not have the driving experience, skill, or maturity to handle a 300hp vehicle. its just that simple. are you the "average" teen? heck if i know. are you?

Well, I am one of the rare ones. I have owned an 83, 89, and 92 Camaro and have paid for all them including the insurance. My parents brought me up not with a silver spoon. I am currently 23 years old and looking to purchase a 2001 SS now that I have graduated college and have a great job. As for what some of the younger guys have said...Nailing your girl....Beating you up.....Being jealous of....That is probably the biggest crock of s**t I have ever heard. If your car is the only thing that makes you tough, you writin checks your *** cant cash, if you know what I mean.
you guys are all missing the point here. I am not debating the fact that an 18 year old can handle a high horsepower car. I am just complaining about kids like silverss that brag about their bad *** brand new $35000 ss convertible and how its so much faster than anybody alses car when we both know that there is no way that this kid bought this car!! I'm sure there are other spoiled kids on this forum but if you look at all this kids posts since he signed up for this forum (wich was yesterday) they are all turning into flames with him talking $hit to other members about his dads nice car.
yep theres alot of spoiled kids that live by me...this one kid i know is 17 years old and he owns a 2001 formula, 1996 ford mustang gt and a 1998 corvette...and he doesn't even work...he gets what ever he wants from his parents this kid is the biggest spoiled person that i ever know...he just a mommies boy and a daddies boy.

......and no I'm not "old". In fact, I'm under 20. You give young car enthusiasts (and kids in general) a bad name. Take a step back and look how cocky and arrogant you sound. Most of the time people on this board don't have a problem with anyone unless they bring it upon themselves. Think before you post next time...-Mike
