GM changed spark plug gap for ls1's!?!?!?

Well I picked up my camaro from the local chevrolet dealership to get some stuff fixed and have my engine looked at because it was running a little rough. I asked them about the proper gap for spark plugs...they said 0.060. I went over to the parts department to check out the plugs and I noticed that they are set to 0.040. i was wtf is going on here. So the service advisor went and searched through the GM network and found a letter showing a **** load of cars and stating that the spark plug gap for all these cars is 0.040. It was dated 2003...don't remember the exact date.

I wish I woulda known all this when I put the fockin things in

What about the NGK TR 55's? They come gapped at .050, is this correct or should I set mine to .060?

The gap usually is located on the radiator cover. If it says .060 use .060 even if the come pregapped at .050.

A new spark plug has been released for use in the above vehicles. The new spark plug has an Iridium tip instead of the current Platinum tip. Due to the different tip design, the gap of the spark plug has also changed. The new spark plug, P/N 12571164 with AC Delco P/N 41-985, is gapped to 1.01mm (0.040 inches) when the spark plug is made. The spark plug gap is set during manufacturing and should not be changed or damage to the spark plug may result. Any new spark plug found to not be properly gapped should not be used.
