Getting ready to pick up an '01 SS

Hello,

I'm getting ready to pick up an '01 SS Camaro auto with 10k miles for around $20,400. But I'm curious on how fast this car really is. What will this car get in the 1/4 mile stock? Also, what mods can I add to get it into low 13's-high 12's? Thanks in advance,

-Matt

You should be in low 13's in stock trim, depending on your ability to launch.

If you want 12's, you may get lucky and have a factory freak that runs 12's in stock trim. Otherwise, add a lid and cutout and see what that gets you.

I'm running 12.8 @ 108 with a lid/cutout and 4.11 rear. My race weight is 3850, so you'll probably be a little lighter which helps.

You'll probably be running around 13.2 - 13.3 stock and with an exhaust and air intake Lid we'll be in the 12s. Lid - around $120 and exhaust $300. And nitto tires would really cut some time.

check out www.texas-speed.com for lids, they are well priced and are great quality.
others include the SLP and MTI

exhaust is gonna be personal preferance, the loudest being the SLP loudmouth. others to think about are the magnaflow ( my fav ), hooker, GMMG, borla, corsa and flowmaster (great sound, but generally the least hp gains).

check out www.ls1sounds.com for sound clips

Congrats. I just picked up my '00 SS a few months ago. The car ran a 13.4 @ 106.5 bone stock. You should be somewhere in the low-mid 13s depending on conditions.

With your stock coverter, stock air lid, and exhaust, you may see mid 13's at best. Put a stall in it and a sticky tire and you'll see 12's.

Lids ... too many to list. I've got an MTI lid and am pleased with it. If you want to eliminate having to use a breahter filter on the AIR pump line ... you'll need to get a lid from SLP.

Exhaust? Look for information on a "Dynomouth". Or, just get a cutout. You'll love the sound with the cutout open. It's not as loud as you think it will be.
